What Causes Shoulder Pain?

Sometimes, shoulder pain quickly disappears on its own. However, this is not always the case. Pain in your shoulder can be a sign of a long-term condition. Here are some common causes of shoulder pain:

Rotator Cuff Tendinitis – Rotator cuff tendinitis impacts the tendons and tissues that allow you to move your shoulders. It is often referred to as impingement syndrome. Common causes of rotator cuff tendinitis include poor sleep posture and strain during sports. Rotator cuff tendinitis is especially common in athletes.

Dislocated Shoulder – The shoulder is the body’s most mobile joint. This is why dislocation is such a common issue. A dislocated shoulder occurs when your upper arm bone pops out of its socket. Our chiropractor can correct your dislocated shoulder and work with you to strengthen the area to prevent the injury from reoccurring.

Frozen Shoulder – Also known as adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder is a condition that causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint. The onset of symptoms is slow, but if left untreated, a frozen shoulder can leave your shoulder immobile. Through chiropractic care, we can improve the shoulder’s range of motion and in many cases resolve the condition completely.

Shoulder Bursitis – Bursa are sac-like structures located between the tendons and bones of the body. Since the shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, it is especially susceptible to bursitis. When the bursa becomes irritated by too much friction, the bursa becomes inflamed, leading to shoulder pain. Our chiropractic care can help reduce inflammation of the bursa.
